RIDE LETJOG KNIEVELS 2020 - LANDS' END TO JOHN O'GROATS
REVISED 2020 CHARITY MOTORCYCLE CHALLENGE A BRILLIANT SUCCESS
THE 36 Hour 'LANDS END TO JOHN O'GROATS' MOTORCYCLE CHALLENGE
Turning heads all the way for 894 miles from Lands End to the north Scotland coast, We did it! A physical motorcycle challenge to justify the thousands raised this year in sponsorship by our original 80 entrants for 2020... Many events have sadly succumbed to COVID this year, but we stuck at it, ducked 'n dived, dodged, mutated, and rebranded.. But we did it - in various guises as this RIDE Knievels year looks set to reach a total of £27,000 raised for charities against the odds.. Credit to all our 2020 Knievel entrants from Wales, England, Isle of Man, Scotland, Northern Ireland and all their respective sponsors.. Little was it realised when spending six months organising RIDE Manx to visit & ride around the Isle of Man in April - we would actually be ending up at John O'Groats in September!
THE RETURN OF THE 'CYMRU KNIEVELS'...
RIDE CYMRU KNIEVELS 2021
Our 10th Year Event was undertaken from Thursday May 27th to Bank Holiday Monday May 31st 2021.
...An adventure on your doorstep... Clinging to the welsh side of its border with England as tightly as public highways shall allow. Hugging the coastline as practical as possible, the ultimate motorcycle tour ride of Wales - 'the shape of the nation'... 1070 miles of back lanes, the odd navigable track, the luxury of the odd stretch of 'A road...Visits & laps of the premier motor racing circuits of Wales.. Riders opt to join us for the 5 day sections of the 1,070 mile perimeter route around Wales.. Each entrant shall raise as much as possible over our minimum requirement of £150 sponsorship to qualify for rider entry to the ultimate ride out around Wales..
2021 - Thursday May 27th we departed from the welsh border town of Wrexham, in north east Wales. Located six miles west of the border with England, we commenced the 5 day 1070 mile perimeter of Wales event. Each day would see RIDE Cymru continue its perimeter route with the added feature of visit & laps of Anglesey Circuit. Each day section commenced at 9am, with an average of 10 hours per day in the saddle to our next destination. The evening destinations on our 2021 event were HOLYHEAD, ABERYSTWYTH, PEMBROKE DOCK and MONMOUTH. On our final day 5, the bank holiday Monday, we departed MONMOUTH at 9am and finished back at Wrexham for the BIG FINISH at 5pm. The event raised £29,709 for Macmillan cancer support.
...Our 2021 perimeter of Wales included visit & laps of Anglesey Circuit. Many thanks to the officials and management of ANGLESEY CIRCUIT for kindly continuing their support of the RIDE Cymru Motorcycling Event.

FROM 2012 TO 2021 OUR EVENTS HAVE NOW RAISED OVER £150,000 FOR CHARITIES..
------------------------------------------------------
2012 was our first ever RIDE Cymru, based on an idea of Jason Lewis for an event and route around the outer perimeter of Wales. Whilst the initial plan was to simply raise a £1,000 it yielded £3,400 and was immediately identified as a special event with a future..
2013 and 2014 saw the event grow each year but remained as a 'serious' motorcycle event until 2015...
2015 RIDE Cymru KNIEVELS - The birth of the Cymru Knievels..
2016 our event included a meet up for a chat and pic opportunity with World record holder globe trekker Nick Sanders at his Expedition Centre!
2017 and Cymru Knievels were joined by Dave Hailwood (son of legend Mike Hailwood), TV actor Danny John-Jules & TV Producer Steve Keys. A 2nd event that same year was a pilot RIDE Capitals Knievels 3 day event in preparation of the following year.
2018 we took a break from RIDE Cymru to undertake RIDE Capitals Knievels - a 1200 mile route around the UK Mainland to include Edinburgh, London and Cardiff - visiting Knockhill Circuit, Olivers Mount Circuit and the famous Brooklands Circuit & Museum. Enroute we were joined by motorcycling legends John McGuinness and Steve Parrish, and Wales ITV's weather girl Ruth Wignall.
2019 and we returned to Wales for RIDE Cymru Knievels 2019 and we were joined by Stereophonics Richard Jones, the event included visit and laps of Pembrey Circuit and Anglesey Circuit. We were also guests at the famous Portmeirion Village. 2019 witnessed our event create the World Record for the Largest gathering of people dressed as Evel Knievel. An amazing response around Wales as our largest ever number of Knievels tackled our perimeter event..
2020 was to see us leave Wales again and this year to visit the Isle of Man for RIDE Manx Knievels 2020.. For a 48 hour event around both the 37.75 world famous TT Course and many Special Locations around the island for our Manx Knievel Scatter Challenge..
Sadly the event was cancelled due to COVID 19 just 6 weeks before it was planned to commence.. BUT we did not let the virus beat us - and we quickly mutated to the Worlds 1st Lockdown Motorcycle Event.. 'BEING EVEL FROM HOME' raising funds to £21,000 between charities Macmillan Cancer Support and Mannin CT Scanner Appeal.. As Covid restrictions relaxed during the summer Isle of Man entrants undertook a lap of the TT Circuit, whilst UK entrants organised a replacement challenge to justify the thousands of pounds raised.
A revised 2020 event became RIDE LETJOG KNIEVELS - Lands End To John O'Groats, an 894 mile route avoiding motorways and undertaken over two days on the weekend of September 26/27th.. Following a strict social distance routine at all fuel and rest stops, this event helped final fundraising for 2020 to reach £27,000. An amazing effort in a year faced with the Covid virus.
2021... The return of the Cymru Knievels.. But this year 'WRONG WAY ROUND'.. This was our first ever anti clockwise perimeter of Wales! The success of RIDE LETJOG 2020 had demonstrated that RIDE CYMRU 2021 could proceed if Covid lockdown was relaxed, and all entrants follow a strict discipline to each other and rest stop locations. The event was a great success with an average of 30 Cymru Knievels taking part each day.
With special location stops at Anglesey Circuit & Portmeirion, a total of £29,709 was raised in 2021 for Macmillan Cancer Support.
